About Powering Agriculture

Powering Agriculture: An Energy Grand Challenge for Development supports the development and deployment of clean energy innovations that increase agriculture productivity and stimulate low carbon economic growth in the agriculture sector of developing countries to help end extreme poverty and extreme hunger.

PAEGC recently completed a site visit to Rebound Technologies’ first deployed prototype of its SunChill demonstration unit in Inhacoongo, Mozambique. SunChill is an off-grid cooling solution which can be used to pre-cool agricultural produce as it is harvested and could save over 35 percent of cooling costs as compared to conventional cold storage when fully designed and in use. The demonstration unit was built largely with material sourced locally in Mozambique and was tested for the first time outside of the lab at the Mozambique Organicos farm.
