PAEGC, Securing Water for Food and Feed the Future Partnering for Innovation, hosted this summit of nearly 60 Innovators, which included an Innovator Marketplace, pitch competition, TED-style talks and remarks from One Acre Fund’s Tony Kalm and the White House Office of Science and Technology’s Tom Kalil.
On June 2–3, the Powering Agriculture Founding Partners met in Washington, D.C., to discuss findings from the program- and innovator-level midterm evaluation, financing facility options, public private partnerships, post-2019 management options and gender strengthening in Powering Agriculture.
The PAEGC team conducted seven site visits in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Apr. 27–30, 2016. PAEGC interviewed the operators of milk collection centers, smallholder dairy farmers at the collection centers, and visited Promethean’s milk chiller factory.
PAEGC visited Les Anglais in southern Haiti over April 16–20, 2016, to evaluate the EarthSpark solar mini-grid and agro-processing activities. PAEGC interviewed mini-grid users and users of agro processing prototypes such as electric corn mill, corn dekerneler and breadfruit deep fryer.
Over April 13–26, PAEGC visited 11 of iDE’s SunFlower solar pumps installed in five plain regions of Nepal. PAEGC interviewed farmers using the SunFlower pumps for irrigation, as well as various stakeholders in the pump supply chain, including an agricultural cooperative and a future pump retailer.
